DCE calls on three Paramount chiefs in Sunyani Municipality

Sunyani (B/A) July 30, GNA - Mr. Kwame Twumasi, Sunyani Municipal Chief Executive on Thursday stated that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) would continue to seek advice, suggestions and constructive criticisms from traditional authorities to help accelerate national development. He noted that since traditional authorities were the embodiment of people, they had a lot of experience in local government administration, which must necessarily be tapped.

Mr. Twumasi was speaking when he called on three paramount chiefs in Sunyani Municipality, namely Nana Bosoma Asor Nkrawiri II, Omanhene of Sunyani, Nana Kwame Korang VI, Omanhene of Domase no 2 and Nana Sarfo Adu Amankwaah, acting Omanhene of Domase No 1 traditional areas to thank them for accepting his nomination and confirmation as the new MCE. He promised to pursue the good works of his predecessors to help raise the living standard of the people.

"Without the co-operation and assistance of the traditional authorities, the Assembly cannot chalk any meaningful achievements", he said and implored chiefs in the area to help solve chieftaincy disputes that had hindered development in the Municipality and the region. Nana Asor Nkrawiri expressed appreciation for the visit and noting that the position was challenging called for unity of purpose among Assembly Members and support the MCE. He advised the MCE to set aside political differences and exhibit a sense of nationality in his administration to ensure the rapid growth of the area.

Nana Korang II cautioned against fraudulent behaviour of some government appointees and called for transparent and accountable administration by the MCE to help curb corruption. He called on the MCE to use his term of office to help extend pipe-borne water and boreholes to all communities in the area and the completion of an abandoned electrification project in his area.
