Komla Dumor Inset: Kwansema Dumor and the Kids

Yesterday marked four years exactly since Ghanaian broadcaster and former morning show host on Joy FM who later joined the BBC, Komla Dumor, died.

His wife Kwansema Dumor took to social media in a touching post to remember and celebrate the memory of her late husband.

“1Cor 13:13. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. We love you Komla and remember you always,” she said on Facebook and also shared a lovely photo of herself and her three children all grown up.

Komla was a Ghanaian journalist who worked for BBC World News and was the main presenter of its programme, Focus On Africa.

He joined the BBC African Service in London as host of the radio programme, Network Africa in 2006. From 2008 to 2012, he presented The World Today on the BBC World Service. In 2011, Komla began presenting the World News and Africa Business Report on BBC World News and early mornings on BBC One and the BBC News Channel. When the latter was re-launched in 2013, fellow BBC correspondent Lerato Mbele was chosen as host.

In December 2013, he was named as one of the 100 most influential Africans of 2013 by New African Magazine.

As a lead presenter for BBC World, Komla had a considerable influence on how the continent was covered.

At the time of his death, Komla was the only West African newsreader on BBC World News.

Yesterday, a number of Ghanaian media personalities, including Bola Ray, took to social media to remember the late Komla.
