Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Antwi Awua Darkwa, Commanding Officer of the Airborne Force in Tamale has asked for the support and cooperation of officers and staff of the Unit to ensure the progress of the Unit and the country.

He said 'This will help the Unit to be what we want it to be and what we want the country to be.'

Lt Col Darkwa, who took office in November, last year as the Commanding Officer of the Airborne Force in Tamale, made the call after an induction church service held for him at the Barwah Barracks Presby/Methodist Church in Tamale to pray for God's guidance upon his tenure.

There were Muslim and Christian prayers where Reverend Father Captain Emmanuel Arthur, Senior Garrison Chaplain, who was one of the Officiating Clergy at the induction church service, said prayers asking God to assist the new Commanding Officer with good counsel to succeed.

The event was witnessed by some members of the Northern Regional Security Council, the Upper East Regional Minister, senior officers and staff of the Northern Command of the Ghana Armed Forces.

Lt Col Darkwa expressed the need for creative and communal spirit among officers and staff of the Unit to achieve set targets for the progress of the Unit.

He expressed gratitude to the Military High Command for appointing him to serve in his new capacity promising to be faithful to the country and his roles.

Mr Rockson Bukari, Upper East Regional Minister assured that government would continue to work to retool the Ghana Armed Forces to enhance its operations.

Mr Bukari was hopeful that the new Commanding Officer would build on the efforts of his predecessor to continue to promote peace in the northern part of the country.
