A Police website aimed at providing the Media with accurate information in their works will be launched on January 25, Mr David Asante-Apeatu, Inspector General of Police (IGP) has announced.

His announcement comes after several calls from the media to the police about the difficulties they face in getting information from the Police to enhance their work.

"This website will help the Police to interact more with the public, by giving helpful and safe information to them," Mr Asante-Apeatu said in Accra on Tuesday at a news conference.

It was organised to give clarification on the recent arrest of some three persons with objects suspected to be explosives at Odorkor, a suburb of Accra on Monday.

Addressing the media in Accra, the IGP urged the public and the international community to remain calm as the police carries out investigations following the arrest of the three suspects possessing objects alleged to be explosives.

According to Mr Asante-Apeatu, the Police through its Preventive Initiative, which seeks to educate the public on their operations and also gather information on possible threats in the various communities led to the arrest of the three suspects.

On Monday January 15, the Police intercepted some objects suspected to be explosives of varied species at Odorkor in Accra.

The explosives were intercepted based on Police intelligence.

Three persons (names withheld) in connection with the explosives have also been arrested and are in Police custody.
