It was not all fun when the 1997 Year Group of St. John’s Grammar School marked 20 years after graduation at a meet-up session at the school located at Achimota in Accra.
The former students brainstormed about the future of their alma mater.
At a meeting held last Saturday, the former students were filled with joy when they saw the faces of their colleagues for the first time after taking their last West African Examinations Council (WAEC) papers.
Although seeing the faces of colleagues was a constant feature while at school, this was different after completion where the possibility of meeting a colleague is low.
New friends they say, know the present version of people but old friends know everything about them.
They reminisced the times when they were teenagers and compared that to their present status in society. They also danced to some good tunes and shared some memorable moments.
The period was not expended only on fun and merrymaking but to raise funds to complete an ongoing urinal project the ‘97 year group started at the Boys’ Dormitory.
Project Coordinator and CEO of Obaapa Agyeiwaa Construction, Madam Joycelyn Frimpong encouraged her colleagues to continue to support the project to get it completed as scheduled.
Chairman of the '97 Year Group, David Youngs, who is also the Communications Officer at the country office of the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), called on other members of the year group to show love and support to their alma mater.
