JAN 16, 2018 LISTEN

The Employment and Labour Relations Minister has cautioned Ghanaians to be wary of their dealings with individuals who operate social media accounts bearing his name.

Ignatius Baffour Awuah said he has no Facebook account, adding everyone claiming to be him on the site is purely a scammer.

The Sunyani West MP is the latest prominent person to fall victim to scammers on social media.

Some ministers of state, celebrities, radio and tv personalities, sports stars and notable organisations have suffered a similar fate in the past.

The fraudsters make financial demands from unsuspecting members of the public.

Mr Awuah is upset that some unscrupulous persons have created a pseudo-Facebook accounts in his name and are demanding money from innocent Ghanaians with the bait of securing them jobs.

He was emphatic in a press statement Tuesday that he has “not authorized anyone to demand money from people in order to secure them a job.”

“The general public must take caution in transacting business with these individuals whilst the BNI, CID and other security institutions keep investigating the act,” he added.
