The visit was a follow up to an earlier meeting between the KMA boss and the Hungarian Ambassador in Accra when the Hungarian Embassy was officially reopened in December 2017, after 30 years of closure, during which H.E. Andras Szabo expressed his government’s readiness to collaborate with the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) to build an investment drive partnership that would be beneficial to all.

In his address, H.E.Szabo said the team is looking at ways of identifying business avenues in Kumasi where they can develop, by investing in those areas.

“We are ready to form a solid partnership with Ghana, especially with the KMA and in view of this, Ghana-Hungry Business Council has been set up with the responsibility of exploring business opportunities in Ghana, so we are here to meet your working committee to get into the details of all the important areas. I hope we will have good partnership that will be beneficial us,” he assured.

Hon. Assibey Antwi in his welcoming address expressed his gratitude to the Hungarians for fulfilling their promise and the Assembly’s readiness to partner with them in the development of the city.

“KMA, in our preparedness to work with you, has put in place a working committee which is prepared with all the necessary details, so we have to sit down with your team, go through the details and look at the important and potential areas which can be beneficial to us all,” he said.

The KMA Boss briefed them on the potential areas of the economy that need an urgent attention in developing the city.

“There are a lot of opportunities in this city, there a lot of challenges and these challenges have now resurfaced into opportunities which must be capitalized. There is an opportunity in the area of roads, because of the bad nature of our roads, there is an opportunity in the area of car packs, because of the congestion nature of our city, and other areas,” he added.

The Kumasi Mayor also mentioned the areas of tourism, which includes building of hotels and the revamping of Kumasi Zoological Gardens, real estates, housing generation and many others.
