Armed robbers attack radio journalist

Kumasi, July 27, GNA - Four unidentified men suspected to be armed robbers, on Wednesday attacked, Mr Listowel Yesu Bukarson, Head of Sports of the Kapital Radio, in Kumasi at his residence at Anwomaso, and bolted with his Opel car.

The robbers ransacked the car after ceasing it, taking away two cell phones, a digital recorder and an unspecified amount of money before abandoning it at "F" Line, Buokrom Estates, a suburb of Kumasi. The police found the on Thursday and has since handed it over to Mr Bukarson, following a report he had made to the police on the incident. Narrating his ordeal with the thugs to the Ghana News Agency in Kumasi on Tuesday, Mr Bukarson said the incident occurred at about 22 hours at the entrance to his residence, at Anwomaso just on his return from work.

He said on approaching the entrance to his residence, a taxicab emerged from behind with four men jumping out of it and pointing guns at him ordering him to surrender the keys to his car.

Mr Bukarson said he resisted and a struggle ensued with the gunmen threatening to shoot and kill him. In the end they over-powered him, took his car and drove off, while abandoning the taxi they had brought for their operation.

He said after their departure he lodged a complaint at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Police Station.
