Mankranso (Ash), July 26, GNA- The Ahafo-Ano South District office of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) has distributed relief items worth about 150 million cedis to institutions and communities, including schools in the area that were affected by rainstorm.

The items included 100 packets of roofing sheets, 200 boxes of nails, 400 bags of cement and a total of 900 boards. The affected schools are the Nsuta Catholic Primary, Pokukrom Methodist Primary, Asuadae Nahadathul Islamic Primary, Potrikrom Junior Secondary School's workshop, Wioso Primary, Domiabra Catholic and Pokuase kindergartens, which were all hit by rainstorms.

Presenting the items, Mr Johnson Kwaku Adu, the District Co-ordinator of NADMO, who also distributed the items to the affected schools and communities, urged the victims to embark on tree planting to protect buildings against rainstorm.

He cautioned against the habit of waiting for disaster to strike before people maintain their weak structures. Mr Adu called for the judicious use of the items and said NADMO would monitor their usage closely.

He asked assembly members, unit committees and area councils to collaborate with the disaster volunteers in the communities to protect their property.
