The Bono East Youth Alliance in conjunction with the Coalition of Chief For the creation of Bono East Region as set to hold a Mega Bono East Youth Conference In Techiman on Sunday 14th January, 2018 at the Techiman Methodist School Park.

The President of the Bono East Youth Alliance, Nana Yaw Korang Antwi-Boasiako in an interview on Agyinkwa FM "Ghana Mpontuo" radio program and on "The Pundits" at Winners FM, Techiman affirmed that all the needed arrangements have been put in place to host the Techiman Bono East Youth Conference.

According to the President, the prime objective of the Conference is to sensitize the people of Techiman and the entire Bono East area on the urgent need for the creation of the Bono East Region. He added that the conference will also rally the Youth of Techiman and its surrounding communities to volunteer their time and energy to support the Campaign towards the creation of the Bono East Region.

He reiterated that the conference will also serve as a platform to educate the people of Techiman Traditional area and its adjoining communities on the Benefits of the creation of the Bono East Region and the role and responsibilities of people in the proposed Bono East Region.

The conference will bring together Traditional Authorities, former and current Ministers of State, Civil society Groups, Development Partners and youth from all the Traditional Areas within the Eastern part of the Brong Ahafo Region to champion the creation of the proposed Bono East Region.

The Secretary of the Local organising Committee, George Antwi-Boasiako pointed out the Guest Speakers for the conference will include: Oseadeeyo Akumfi Ameyaw IV, Paramount Chief of Techiman Traditional Area to speak on the Topic: "The role of Traditional Authorities in the creation of Bono East Region".

Professor Ameyaw Akumfi, Board Chairman of Ghana Infrastructure and Investment Fund who also double as the Executive Secretary to the coalition of chiefs For the creation of Bono East Region. Prof will speak on "The road map to the creation of Bono East and the contribution of the Traditional Leaders in all the Traditional areas within the Bono East catchment area".

Hon Martin Agyei Mensah Korsah Deputy Minister of Regional Re-organisation will also talk about "The role of government in the creation of New Regions".

The Organizer of the Local organising Committee Mustafa Mohammed further indicated all organized Groups and Associations including Tribal Associations, Keep Fit Clubs, Political parties, and all the Tertiary institutions in Techiman such as Valley View University, Techiman Campus, Holy Family College of Nursing and Midwifery and Krobo College of Nursing.

Also invited to the conference include National Service Personnel, and Senior High Schools in Techiman North and Techiman Municipal.

He again said all the nine (9) radio stations in Techiman will also cover the conference live. He added that "We have also invited all the major TV stations in Ghana to telecast the conference".

Nana Yaw Korang Antwi-Boasiako, concluded that "We are expecting more than five thousand (5,000) people to attend the conference on Sunday 14th January, 2018 at the Methodist Park to prove to the Commission of Enquiries and all Ghanaians that the good people of the Eastern Part of Brong Ahafo Region are in high demand for a new region (Bono East Region) to widen the political and Socio-economic potentials of the area".

He posited that he is optimistic that Bono East will record more than 70% Voter turn out during the referendum and over 90% 'YES' endorsement vote based on the universal support the sensitization Committee has received from the people of the Eastern Part of Brong Ahafo Region.

He outlined that Bono East Region when created will be the 2nd largest Region in Ghana with a Total Land Size of 24, 017sq.km (ie 61% of Brong Ahafo Region and 10% of Total Land size of Ghana). Bono East has a current population of 904,156 (ie. 39% of Population of Brong Ahafo Region).
