Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Stella Sedeme, the Brong-Ahafo Regional Commander of the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), has called on drivers to avoid rushing for passengers as the Christmas season continues.

She said lack of rest also by drivers contributed to road accidents especially on festive occasions as many drivers do crave for money and hardly rest.

DSP Sedeme said this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Sunyani.

She said measures have been put in place by her outfit to ensure that the region would experience an accident-free Christmas and New Year.

She said Police officers have been positioned on roads and highways in the region to ensure discipline and urged drivers to cooperate with them.

DSP Sedeme urged drivers to obey the rules and regulations on the road by observing all road signs and also carry along with them their valid driving documents because the Police officers would not entertain any excuses.

She entreated drivers to desist from over-speeding and also not move with worn-out tyres.

DSP Sedeme cautioned the general public against construction of artificial road ramps in front of their offices, homes and on the main roads because such actions could cause accident and urged drivers to be watchful for such ramps.

She appealed to drivers to abstain from the habit of drinking whiles on duty so that they would have the needed concentration for the safety of passengers and other road users.
