28th Anniversary And Speech Day Of Nana Brentu SHS

Nana Brentu Senior High Technical School has held its 28th anniversary and speech and prize giving day in Enchi on the theme "Positive attitude of stakeholders; the bedrock of quality education in Nana Brentu Senior High Technical School".

The Deputy Registrar of the University of Education, Winneba, Mr Alexander Wilfred Essah, in an address, said it was gradually becoming a norm in the community that after enrolling a child in school all other responsibilities end.

He said if such an attitudes were not changed for the better benefits of the new educational policies would elude them.

He said the then Aowin Secondary School, now Nana Brentu Senior High Technical School was established in Oct 1989 and asked if after 28 years after existence the people could boast of its current status.

Mr. Essah said the institution was still crawling behind other schools recalling that the first batch of the Senior Secondary School products who passed out in 1993 at least one person from Nana Brentu Senior High Technical School passed very well and qualified to enter the university against the odds.

He said" With such a good start, by now the school should have caught up with the first class schools in the country if we had given the necessary support it needed".

He urged the district assembly and the entire community to visit the school often, discuss with the management their concerns and show commitment in addressing them.

Ms Sophia Attimah, Headmistress of the school said it lacked residential accommodation for staff, standard school park, fence wall and official vehicle for administrative work and the old multi-purpose wooden structure that served as an assembly hall had become a death trap and needed replacement.

She appealed to the government to complete the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GET FUND) projects that had been abandoned for years to ease the infrastructural constraints in the school.

Mr Samuel Adu-Gyamfi, the District Chief Executive said government had directed GET FUND secretariat to complete its projects in all second cycle institutions nationwide and work would soon commence on the 12 unit classroom block and boys dormitory projects at the School.

He gave the assurance that the assembly would upgrade and equip the school with modern teaching and learning facilities.

Alhaji Abudulai Sophiano, District Director of Education urged students to study hard and attend classes regularly and advised teachers to undertake research to enhanced their work and also engage in continuous education.

Ms Grace Mensah Awuku and Master Andy Kwame Amissah, both science students were the best West African Senior School Certificate Examination in 2016 and 2017 and were presented with cash of six hundred Ghana cedis each.

The school also awarded deserving teachers, students and non-teaching staff for their dedication and hard work.
