DEC 24, 2017 LISTEN

Delivering the welcome address and the purpose of gathering at the launch of WASSA AMENFI YOUTH NETWORK FOR DEVELOPMENT (WAYN-DEV), a youth group that draws its members from the three Wassa Amenfi Districts(Amenfi East, West and Central) which form the Wassa Amenfi Traditional Area of the Western Region, the Executive Coordinator for the group Mr. S.P Adabor noted that several groups have come and gone, some still in existence and some couldn't stand the test of time but for WAYN-DEV we have come to stay.

Mr. Adabor in his address to the gathering outlined the agenda of the group, "we are here to stay and to help our Traditional Authorities, Government Agencies, District Assemblies, Members of Parliament and all other stakeholders pursue the developmental agenda of Wassa Amenfi Traditional Area.

According to him, "Any good thing that is geared towards the development of Wassa Amenfi has our total support in all forms".

"We want to be very visible and give hope to the authorities that we are ready to support anytime the need be and to the generations nor and unborn that there is a future for Amenfi.

Its time the youth of Wassa Amenfi be alert in our times so that we wouldn't only be referred to in Speeches as youth but a vibrant and integral part of nation building today"

He added that, "As our senior brothers in Amenfi has formed AMENFI THINK THANK which is made up of Lawyers, Doctors, Bankers and other professionals, WAYN-DEV is here to follow in their steps and take over from them when the times come for them to hand over the mantle".

Speaking on the theme for the program "MENTORSHIP IN WASSA AMENFI, THE ROLE OF THE AMENFI YOUTH", Community Relations Officer for Golden Star Bogoso Prestea Limited,

Mr. Emmanuel Damoah who is a member of Wayn-dev urged the youth to be involved in communal activities and by so doing, we would be mentoring our younger ones and offer them an opportunity to get closer to us for help in so many forms.

According to him, "We shouldn't be seen being agents of chieftaincy issues since it is not our mandate to do so.

We must cultivate the habit of giving back to society regardless of what it is"

Omanhene of Wassa Amenfi Traditional Area, Tetrete Okuamoah Sekyim II commended the youth for organising themselves and choosing the theme for the launch. "When we were young, we had less but did more so now that you have more what are you doing with"?

The Chief added, "What makes WAYN-DEV different is that you have been able to bring the whole Wassa Amenfi together and for that I think you have done well

The doors of the Traditional Council is opened to you, you always welcome for talks to help develop Wassa Amenfi"

According to him, "As you have organised yourselves I have the hope that you will help Nananom to develop Amenfi

Lets not allow politics to take center stage, because politics has the potential of dividing us, let do away with politics and pave way for development".

"As you are being born today as a group on the eve of the birth of Christ, I urge you to be humble in your dealings as Jesus Christ did and in a few years to come, the results will be evident", he advised.

The Chairman for the Occasion, Mr. Shadrach Ainoo recounted the need for the youth to do away with things that divide us.

"Tetrete Okuamoah Sekyim II has said it all and am very happy that he mentioned that in our days when we were youth there were no televisions and means of communication but we did our best

Now that you have more you are expected to do more with the more you have. I am a member of Wassa Amenfi THINK THANK and our ideas and yours are the same at different levels and that is development

I think it is time we come together to achieve our aim. I wouldn't talk much but this is what I leave you with " Aspire to Inspire before you Expire", he emphasized.
