The Methodist University College Ghana (MUCG) Alumni Association has organised its second Homecoming with a call on alumni to formalise their membership to enable them to gain proper recognition to advance the cause of the University.

The President of MUCG Alumni, Mr Bernard Tutu Boahene, who made the call, said members must see the objective of giving back to the University, in whatever form, as a worthy cause that could translation into the greater good of the University Community.

The one-week event began with a seminar on the theme: 'Networking - Its Relevance to National Development.'

Activities for the Homecoming include a football gala, an HIV/Awareness Sensitisation Programme, Health walk, blood donation and a thanksgiving service as the climax.

Mr Boahene said the event will, among other things, support the MUCG Community and promote networking among members, which was a critical social capital.

He said though the task of mobilising members for the event had been uneasy, its successful organisation would help raise funds for development and identify potentials to occupy various positions in the University.

He urged members to respond to the call in good time since their support was much needed in terms of dues payment to drive the development agenda.

Mr Boahene thanked management for their cooperation and warm reception during the process that ensured the success of the event.

Mr Patrick Asford Boadu, the Event Planning Committee Co-ordinator, said it was not a one-year event and urged members to put their hands on deck to advance a good cause for the University, adding that members should show more commitment in subsequent events.

He said though the patronage had been encouraging, he expected to see larger numbers in the coming years with proper communication, co-ordination and sensitisation.

He urged authorities at medical facilities to make blood more accessible to donors who need blood without letting them go through stress once they could be identified as donors.
