Galaxy International School Wins Bronze In Holland

Galaxy International School has won a bronze medal in the 14th edition of the prestigious international science Olympiad held in Arnhem, the Netherlands.

Fifty countries participated in the competition and each country was represented by six students. In all, 300 students took part in the competition.

Ghana’s team comprised six students; five from Galaxy international School and one from Presbyterian Boys' Secondary School. The students from Galaxy International School included Kekeli Akpabli, Salma Adam

Singh Jaskaran, Sally Serwaa Boakye and Jennifer Margaret Manful, while David Osei-Hwere represented Presbyterian Boys' Secondary School.

Kekeli Akpabli received the bronze medal after an intense competition by the 300 participants.

Galaxy International School has represented Ghana in various international competitions; it won nine gold, 16 silver, 30 bronze medals so far

The IJSO Olympiad is one of the prestigious science Olympiads in the world. The competition revolves around physics, chemistry and biology. Each team comprising six students goes through three different set of exams in three days. The exams include multiple choice exam, theory and practical consisting of several experiments. Highest scoring students are then selected for awards.

The selection of team members and organisation of travel were accomplished by Centre of Natural Science Olympiads, Ghana

The competition is hosted by a different country each year, next year it will be hosted by Botswana.
