Zoomlion Ghana Limited has presented a cheque for GH¢ 20,000 to the Ghana Journalist Association (GJA) in support of the upcoming 22nd GJA Awards ceremony slated for December 20.

The cheque was received by Mrs Linda Asante, the vice president of GJA at the Association's head office in Accra.

Mrs Asante at the presentation commended Zoomlion for their continuous support towards the awards ceremony and assured that the amount will be used for its intended purposes.

'We are most grateful to Zoomlion for supporting us with GH¢20,000 and we are hopeful that next year they will be coming in a big style.'

'Zoomlion has been a strong supporter of the GJA Awards. They have been sponsoring the Sanitation and Hygiene category, but fortunately for us this year, they are coming on board with another category and that is the SDG development. Knowing what the SDG is all about, it has the link to everything and they think that it is very necessary to come on board with that category,' she said.

Mr Adams Mahama, the Senior Communications Officer of Zoomlion, said the GJA had over the years been worthy partners for Zoomlion and the company was proud to be associated with the Awards ceremony.

He said they are sponsoring the Development Journalism for furthering SDG category in addition to the Sanitation and Hygiene category because it fell in line with what Zoomlion does.

'The GJA is a worthy partner because they make the work we do known to everybody. Without them a lot of people will not get to know what we do. So it is against this backdrop that we are doing this. We have been supporting the Sanitation and Hygiene category for six to seven years now and this year we are adding the SDG because there is a link with sanitation in which we are involved,' he said.

Zoomlion Ghana Limited is a waste management as well as an environmental sanitation business in Ghana and Africa.

This year's GJA Awards ceremony will be held for the first time at 1000 hours on Wednesday, December 20, at the State Banquet Hall on the theme: 'Safe Mining and Environmental Protection: The Role of the Media.'

The Okyehene, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori-Panyin II will be the guest speaker at the event
