As part of the Ghana Standards Authority's strategic growth agenda, Prof. Alex Dodoo, GSA's Director-General, will officially open a new office in the Upper West Regional capital of Wa, on December 19, 2017.

With this move, the Authority would now have offices in all ten regional capitals, making its services more accessible to clients.

A statement from GSA said the significance of the new office is that Wa is a border town, and therefore, requires extra attention by way of carrying out conformity assessment, through import inspection, testing and certification.

The Region is bordered on the North by the Republic of Burkina Faso, on the East by Upper East Region, on the South by Northern Region, and on the West by Cote d'Ivoire.

'The decision to expand our presence into the Upper West Region is a logical step in our growth strategy as it will improve on our coverage in a border post community and leverage the human resource potential of the area,' Prof. Dodoo said.

'We have the opportunity to further expand staffing and capabilities in our operations, as well as increase our ability to service current and future clients."

GSA is the government agency mandated to promote standards in the country and aims to become a world-class standards organisation, which is customer-focused.

Its primary mission is to protect consumers, facilitate trade and promote industrialisation through Standardisation, Metrology and Conformity Assessment.
