The analysis, released by the Metropolitan Education Directorate earlier this week, left stakeholders of some schools absolutely dumbfounded and disappointed. But to many others, it was just enough reason to carry themselves shoulder-high and make merry on the streets of Takoradi before the ultimate arrival of Christmas.

Out of a total of 7,704 candidates from both private and public schools that represented the metropolis, 75% of the candidates scored aggregate 6 to 36. The most improved school, per the analysis, is Rev. Kobbah Yalley JHS. The school recorded a 71.21% pass as compared to last year's disappointing 25%.

The best scored student for public schools went to Ansah Theiphilia Nwia Awube of Bethel Methodist JHS. He ran home with 9 ones, while William Collins Oppong of Queen of Peace Academy, together with seven other candidates, made private schools proud by obtaining 9 ones, with a raw score of 527.

For private schools, New Pathway Academy, which recorded an average score of 7.08, sat comfortably on the apex of the chart, followed by Elgate Education Centre, St. Peter's JHS, Ahenemba International, Kingsbury International and Barbara School with average scores of 9.40, 10.29, 10.35, 10.73 and 11. 18 respectively. The first five public schools displayed quite an impressive performance as Services JHS took the top spot with an average score of 19.33 while their competitors, Airforce Station Basic School, St. Andrews Anglican Complex JHS, Navy Basic School and Bethel Methodist, followed closely with average scores of 19.96, 22.83, 23.24 and 23.57 respectively.

The relentless efforts of Sir Iye Jonas, Sir Patrick Tandoh and Sir Peter Eshun saw their school, St Peter's International, take the front seat of the chart in individual subject areas like Social Studies, English Language and Religious and Moral Education (R.M.E) respectively.

Teachers of Mathematics in the metropolis were quite dissatisfied to find their subject at the foot of the chart while Ghanaian Language took the first position, with Basic Design and Technology (BDT) placing second.
