NDC NDC Will Bounce Back To Power In 2020---NDC MPs
DEC 13, 2017 LISTEN

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Party has expressed optimism of recapturing power in the 2020 general election.

The Party's Members of Parliament (MPs) drawn from the constituencies in the Northern and the Upper East Regions expressed the optimism during the swearing in of new officers of the Tertiary Educational Institutions Network (TEIN) of the NDC for the Bolgatanga Polytechnic Chapter at Sumbrungu , near Bolgatanga.

The NDC MPs who included the MP for Tamale South, Mr Haruna Iddrisu, Mr Alhassan Suhuyini, MP for Tamale North, Mr Isaac Adongo, MP for the Bolgatanga Central, Dr Dominic Akuritinga Ayine, MP for Bolgatanga East, Dr Clement Apaak, MP for Builsa South among other senior NDC functionaries stated that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government had failed to deliver on its campaign promises.

They cited the NPP government's flagships programmes such as the 'One Village, the One Dam, the One District, One Factory , Planting for Food and Jobs and the Free Senior High School policies' not feasible to implement.

The MP for the Tamale South who is also the Minority Leader in Parliament stated that most of the programmes were not feasible to implement as the NPP government had not gotten the resources to implement those policies.

'Since the coming into power of the NPP government it has not implemented the One Village, the One Dam, the One District, One Factory policy in the country particularly in this part of the country as it promised.

'When we were in power the NPP accused us of spending lavishly on laudable projects such as the Tamale airport, road infrastructure, the ports in the country, railways among others. They also accused us of borrowing too much for development projects and indicated that the country has much resources. What are we seeing today? They are now going around the globe with cup in hand looking for more to borrow'

He stated that no government had brought much development to the country than the NDC government and cited education, health and road infrastructure executed under the NDC government as some of the massive infrastructure the country had ever witnessed.

Mr Alhassan Suhuyini, MP for Tamale North mentioned the Rural Electrification Projects and the Tamale Airport which were executed in the Northern parts of the country as some of the laudable projects which had contributed to the economic growth of the area.

Mr Isaac Adongo, MP for Bolgatanga Central noted that although theoretically the NPP Government had good economic policies in place, they were not practical to implement to help contribute to the growth of the economy.

Dr Dominic Akuritinga Ayine, MP for Bolgatanga East called on the party members and supporters to put behind what happened in the 2016 general election and focus on supporting the party to recapture power come 2020.
