Christians Admonished To Be Lead Advocates Of Corruption Crusade

Reverend Dr Kojo Osei-Wusu, former President of the Ghana Baptist Convention (GBC) has called on all Christians to help fight against corrupt practices in the society.

'We will like to appeal to the Christian community in all churches in the Country to rise up and join in the fight as part of their Christian duty to the Lord,' he explained.

He said this during a press conference held at the Grace Baptist Church, Kumasi to mark the International Anti-Corruption Day, which also coincided with the one year anniversary of FoFCAC.

Forum for Christians Against Corruption (FoCAC) is a group of Christians devoted to fight all forms of corruption in Ghana for National Development.

The Group, which was formed in 2016, fight corruption through the personal lifestyles of members, forums, public lectures, press conferences and others to expose by questioning and resisting all forms of corruption towards its elimination.

Also the Founder of FoCAC, Rev Dr Osei-Wusu said, Christians must be motivated to fight corruption by the disgust they have for it, in the same way they were more to resist the legalization of homosexuality.

The effects of corruption were greater than homosexuality and it's a fight that Christians do not have to be asked to partake, he said.

He called on the government to launch a comprehensive national anti-corruption mass campaign to mobilise and educate the citizenry to be part of the fight against the canker.

There should be a paradigm shift in the approach to fight it that will bring the masses to the frontline for maximum effect whereby educational institutions, traditional authorities and religious bodies would be involved to help shape, especially, the minds of the young people against the fight.

Rev Dr Osei-Wusu said the areas are the Right to Information (RTI) bill, appointment of independent state prosecutor, election of district and metropolitan chief executives and tackling corruption in the basic school systems by inference through the new free Senior High School policy.

Nonetheless, its performance on the fight after almost a year in office was still quite disappointing.

The Founder of FoCAC suggested that the country did not need any new committee (s) to carry out the fight but can be done through the Ministry of Education and the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE).

The media could also selflessly support the campaign with attractive and educative songs, jingles and sketches to make it memorable in the minds of the public.
