Ghana Federation Disability Organization [GFD], Obuasi district, on 6th December 2017 celebrated the United Nations Day for person with disability in Obuasi under the theme; TRANSFORMATION TOWARDS SUSTAINABLE AND RESILIENT SOCIETY FOR ALL.
Hon. Elijah Adansi Bonah, Obuasi MCE, traditional leaders, officials from social welfare department, media personnel were all present.
Nana Owusu Achiaw Brempong, the Odikro of Bogobiri, a suburb of Obuasi speaking as the Chairman of the day advised and motivated members of the organization to appreciate themselves and be thankful to the Almighty God for their lives adding that, life is what is needed. Again, he said, since they have been recognized in the country and the whole world, it means they have something good and important to add to the country’s development. They should therefore trust themselves and ceased to lose hope and help the nation because “disability is not inability.” He also commended Hon. Karim Iddrisu who doubles as the Secretary and Chairman for G.F.D, Ghana and Obuasi respectively, for his massive contribution to the Association in Obuasi.
Hon. Karim Iddrisu in his praised the chairperson, MCE and other invited guest for coming. He also reechoed the advice of the Chairman Nana Owusu Brempong to his fellow people. He then forwarded their concerns to the M.C.E Hon Elijah Adansi Bonah and appealed to him to assist the Association in Obuasi. He emphasized that government support comes in handy and asked the MCE to intervene.
Hon. Elijah Adansi Bonnah on his part lauded Hon Karim Iddrisu and the organizers of the event. Saying, he will put all their concerns into action to ensure the development of the Association and also better the living conditions of the group. He assured them he will make sure the Assembly becomes “ physically challenged friendly” by providing them the necessary needs, stressing the Medium Term Developmental projects will cover the Association by the provision of office for the Association.
