Yesterday was an awesome day, cool but warm, sunny but cloudy, restful but busy! Quite a mood for muse and solemn mental disabuse. The usual WhatsApp messages flowed like torrents of a bursting river breaking the banks of an intricate web of tributaries. I thought I’d have time to do some social media gossip (konkonsa). As I skimmed through the stale and fresh messages, Hassan Tampuli’s was a number of photographs that were downloading.

His familiar one million dollar smile and snow-white teeth sparkled through the screen of my phone like a 3D image of golden champagne bubbles. The Dagomba in him was all too splendid, amorously wrapped by a white three piece “agoda” and crowned with a blue collapsible “fulla”, hat, padded to the left in a neat style that portrayed his affability.

And talking about the captivating smile, you couldn’t but jump with joy to the glory of GOD as you noticed that he was receiving an award on behalf of NPA, and the whole nation, for quite an appreciable policy that would reduce the poisonous effect of the toxic fumes that billow from the backsides of millions of vehicles on our roads. In November of this year, the NPA, represented by Lawyer Hassan Tampuli, CEO, also received a similar award in Bonn, Germany, winning the “2017 Climate and Clean Air Award for Outstanding Policy”! Really, outstanding it was!

The National Petroleum Authority championed the reduction of deadly Sulphur standards in petroleum products from 3000ppm to 50ppm.What that means is my wildest guess, but I reckon it was such a glorious achievement that it warranted an equally glorious recognition as it put Ghana at par with Europe, Asia, America, and the East African States of Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, and Burundi.

So under the leadership of Counsel Hassan Tampuli, NPA has been recognised as the energy icon of positive policies that has a pragmatic roadmap to sanitise the industry, which they are directly involved in. Now, the rippling effects of this positive achievement is that when the exhaust fumes are released generously into the atmosphere by rickety vehicles and unserviced Lorries, they are incredibly less harmful to breathe. Cigarette smoke thus becomes the most poisonous, just one notch behind the fumes of Korle Lagoon, which is a toxic mix of bacteria, germs, and human and mortuary waste, alas!

The achievement award came as an icing on the NPP’s manifesto commitments of the NPA in the run-up to the general elections of 2016. Congratulations Mr President, Nana Akufo-Addo, Hon Boakye Agyarko, Minister for Energy, Lawyer Hassan Tampuli, and the entire staff of NPA for this most laudable milestone.

#HassanTampuliToaso, indeed Ghana is working again.
