Fire Outbreak: NUGS Sympathizes With Konongo Odumase Senior High School

The National Union of Ghana Students, NUGS is saddened by reports in respect of a fire outbreak that gutted the Konongo Odumase SHS boys dormitory yesterday evening, December 9, 2017.

The President of NUGS Elisha Oheneba Essumang and the NUGS Treasurer on Sunday morning December 10, 2017 left for Konongo Odumase SHS to access the extent of damage and take the necessary steps to remedy the harm caused by the fire outbreak.

Whilst there, he shall be joined and assisted by the Ashanti Regional Students' Representative Council, SRC Coordinator, Raphael Sarkodie to discuss with stakeholders, the extent of damaged the fire has caused and the reliefs measures needed to ensure that teaching and learning returns to normal.

The fire started Saturday evening about 8:15pm during prep period according to our information and managed to consume about half of the boys dormitory that houses about hundred male students.

Properties including mattresses, chop box, books, bags, foot wears, and others were completely burnt. Thankfully, no lives were lost.

The National Union of Ghana Students, NUGS is solidly behind the school in this difficult and trying times and calls on authorities, NADMO, philanthropist, especially the Konongo District Ghana Education Service, Ministry of Education to come to the aid of this noble institution as a matter of urgency.
