Nene Kanor Atiapa III, the Mankrado and the Acting President of the Great Ningo Traditional Council has lauded the government for its free Senior High School (SHS) policy.

He said education is the key for national development, and therefore called on Ghanaians to put aside partisanship and support President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo administration to successfully implement the initiative.

Nene Atiapa made the call when he spoke with the Ghana News Agency at Ningo in the Greater Accra Region on Thursday.

He said the introduction of the free SHS had greatly assisted parents, particularly those in a fishing community like Ningo to send their Junior High School students to secondary school this year.

Nene Atiapa said: 'Almost all the students who completed this year's JHS have gone to SHS because of the free education policy by the government. I want to use this medium to express our gratitude to President Akufo-Addo for his bold step to bring some relieve to parents.'

He called on chiefs, the clergy, Members of Parliament and other opinion leaders to put in their efforts to sustain the programme for the students to get better education to manage the nation in future.
