09.12.2017 LISTEN
By GNA

Mr. Patrick Osah Nyumor Atitiati Laweh has been elected as the Presiding Member (PM) of the Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA) Out of 48 votes cast, he polled 33 while his contender, Mr Joseph Koto, had 13 votes.

Having secured the mandated 32 votes, Mr. Laweh was declared PM elected by the Tema Metropolitan Director of the Electoral Commission (EC), Nana Oduro Nimapau, who supervised the poll at the TMA General Assembly hall, Tema.

Just before voting commenced, Mr. Kwesi Poku, one of the contenders, pulled out of the race.

Two Assembly Members, Rachel Tutu and Raphel Lomotey were voted for by their proxies Romeo Elikplim Akahoho and Ian Oquaye respectively, as one ballot was rejected with one Assembly member absent.

It would be recalled that the TMA voted for a PM in November this year with the three contenders; Mr Patrick Laweh, Mr Kwasi Poku and Mr Joseph Koto securing 21, 14 and 12 votes in that order.

None of them secured the mandatory 32 votes to become the next PM, hence the need for this election.
