Tema MCE Happy With The Level Of Cleanliness In The Zongos

Felix Mensah Nii Annang-La, the Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), has hailed the initiative of a group of people in the Zongo Community of Tema for undertaking a clean-up exercise in the Metropolis.

He also commended them for emulating the example of former President Jerry John Rawlings, who was recently declared an Ambassador for cleanliness in the Accra Metropolis.

Nii Annang-La gave the commendation to the group when he visited them at their meeting place in Tema, to solidarise with them and to show appreciation for their initiative.

The group, Zongo for Change, has volunteered to clean Tema daily until the end of December in response to a challenge the MCE threw out to various societies in the Metropolis earlier in the year.

He encouraged them to continue to actively participate in the development of Tema promising them his constant support and donated sanitation equipment to them.

Mrs. Laina Mohammed, leader of the group, who received the items on behalf of the group praised the MCE and promised her group's support for the transformational agenda that he had brought to Tema.

She confirmed that the initiative to clean the Metropolis out of their own volition was in response to the MCE's call on all Ghanaians to be exampled by former President Rawlings, whose sanitary integrity led to the Accra Metropolitan Assembly appointing him as the sanitation Ambassador.

Former President Rawlings' Ridge home is judged to be among the cleanest in the whole of the capital and in June this year, Felix Mensah Nii Annang-La, had challenged Ghanaians, especially the youth of Tema, to emulate the example of the former President.

At a clean-up campaign that he had organised in Tema East, he said that if all Ghanaians followed the example of the former President, Ghana would be rid of predominant sicknesses in the country, especially malaria and cholera.

'Because former President Rawlings is environmentally conscious, the Accra Metropolitan Assembly has made him an Ambassador, If all of us could aspire to be an award-winning environmentally conscious person like one of our most Charismatic Leaders, Ghana would be rid of malaria and cholera' Felix Mensah Nii Annang-La said

In the meeting with the Zongo for Change Group, the MCE was full of praise for them for taking up the challenge he had thrown to the youth and refused to take credit for the positive development, saying he is just a workman in visionary government, led by, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

He encouraged them to continue to contribute to the improvement of sanitation in the Metropolis.
