Mr Philip Sarpong, the Amasaman Education Officer of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), has called on the public to pay their taxes to enable government to undertake development projects.

He said various projects such as hospitals, roads, schools, markets and governmental policies like the free Senior High School, the school feeding initiative and health insurance policies could be achieved if the citizenry pay their taxes as expected.

Mr Sarpong said this when the NCCE in collaboration with the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) organized a tax payment education campaign at Pokuase, near Amasaman in the Ga West Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.

The event was attended by traders, drivers, artisans, hairdressers, and members of various business associations and churches.

He urged businesses and traders to pay their taxes as part of their civic responsibilities to avoid being arrested and prosecuted. GNA
