Three students are reported to have died at the Kumasi Academy within one week, bringing to seven, the number of student deaths this year alone.

The situation is reported to have alarmed parents whose wards are in the school.

The National Union of Ghana Students on Friday after the death of two students from Kumaca expressed worry over the development and requested from an immediate response from all sector players to salvage the situation. Unfortunately, master Furgerson also lost his life on Sunday raising the death toll to 3 just in the space of one week with 25 others on admission.

"I believe it is time to quarantine every individual who may have come in contact with any of the deceased or 25 admitted students until the cause of death is ascertained. Exposing the young adults to their families may cause much harm in the event that the occurrences are as a result of a contiguous disease.

NUGS and NAHSAG(Our Health Bloc) are in touch with the authorities and are working to help bring the issue under control together with other sector players." The NUGS President Elect, Mr Amoakohene Frank stated.

He further wished the lost lives a peaceful eternal rest whiles he called on parents to be calm even in these moments. "I are confident that the issue would be brought under control to enable the students return to their various academic activities" he said.
