Sekyere East/Afigya-Sekyere approve DCEs


Effiduase (Ash), July 15, GNA - The Sekyere East District Assembly in the Ashanti Region on Thursday approved of Mr Philip Basoah, as the new District Chief Executive for the area.

He polled 62 votes out of the total 63 votes cast, representing 98.4 per cent. The Electoral Commission (EC) conducted the election. Addressing the assembly after the election, Mr Sampson Kwaku Boafo, Ashanti Regional Minister, commended the assembly members for the peaceful and successful election.

He urged the assembly and the entire population of the district to co-operate with the DCE to ensure peace and accelerated development. At Agona in the Afigya-Sekyere District of Ashanti, Mr Ben Abankwa was also given the nod, when he polled 60 votes out of 63 votes cast. In an acceptance speech, he called for continuous support and co-operation to bring more development projects to the district.
