Health Workers Advised Not To Put Patients' Lives At Risk

Most Revered Mathew Kwasi Gyamfi, the Catholic Bishop of Sunyani, has advised health professionals to research and be abreast of the issues in order not to put the lives of patients at risk.

He gave the advice at a joint matriculation ceremony for 298 students admitted for the 2017/2018 academic year to pursue general nursing and midwifery programmes of the Holy Family Nursing and Midwifery Training College at Berekum in the Brong-Ahafo Region.

Out of the number, 151 are being trained at the Berekum Campus whilst 87 are also at the Saint Mary's Catholic Hospital Campus at Drobo in the Jaman South District.

Most Rev. Gyamfi asked health workers to cultivate the habit of reading and using technology to seek for all the essential information needed in the execution of their duties.

He entreated health workers to sacrifice and with tender loving care, provide efficient health services to the citizenry.

He admonished the matriculants to study seriously to be able to complete the training successfully to distinguish themselves as excellent professionals in practice.

Miss Monica Nkrumah, the Principal of the College, said the College was given accreditation by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana in September, this year, to run post Nurse Assistant Clinical (NAC) and Nurse Assistant Preventive (NAP) midwifery programmes.

She stated that the first batch of 60 students for the post NAC/NAP programmes was admitted this year and that increased the total student population to 836 for both campuses.

Miss Nkrumah warned the fresh students against deviant behaviour and indulging in social vices and stressed the need to lead modest and decent lives to make their stay on campus fruitful and productive.
