Mrs. Vivian Fiscian, a US based philanthropist, has refurbished and stocked a new library complex and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) facilities for Assin Adubiase Methodist school in the Assin South District of the Central Region.

The library is now filled with books of various disciplines, educational periodical publications, magazines, reference books and study materials.

Addressing a durbar of traditional leaders, teachers and students of the school, Mrs Fiscian said it is useful to inculcate the habit of reading as it would help students in their scholarly pursuit.

She said the ICT facilities would improve the computer literacy of students and urged them to use the facility for its stated purpose.

"Do not be afraid to try something new. Always take chances, never give up, dream big and read to bring out the best in you.'

"I am committed to building more community libraries to provide insightful information, promote the love and pleasure for reading among students and providing a warm facility for learning and discourse," she said.

Mrs Fascian commended the Methodist Church for its pioneering role in education particularly its extensive network of schools that has provided education and enlightenment to millions throughout the ages.

'Today's readers are tomorrow's leaders' she said and called for consistent efforts to develop the reading habit among children adding that the library should assign children to read a book every week.

Mr Bernard Yaw Afrai Amissah, Secretary of the school's Parent Teacher Association (PTA), who spoke on behalf of the Headteacher of the school, lauded Mrs Fascian's desire to bring change to the community.

He also called on other benevolent institutions and individuals to take up such initiatives to support education in the country.
