The Kyidomhene of the Gomoa Ajumako Traditionall Area, Nana Barima Owusu Asar I has urged governmental to actively involved Chiefs in its quest of fighting activities of landguards in the country.

According to him, Chiefs and other traditional leaders being custodians of lands ought to be actively involved in solving the social canker.

In an interview with newsmen at Awutu Ofankor in the Awutu-Senya East Municipality of the Central Region, Nana Barima Asaar I stressed the need for all stakeholders in the Land and Forest industrial to join hands to combat this anti-social operations of landguards.

" Government's recent fight against operations of landguards is recommendable, however chiefs and traditionall leaders needs to be actively involved to end it once and for all.

Nananom did not anticipated that lands would atract these criminals, so they have been overtaken by recent developments on their lands. They never though things woukd escalate to this extend.

There must be round table discussion on redimacation of traditional boundaries I believe with proper demacation of these boundaries, land encroachment would be eradicated "

He noted that people have taken advantage of numerous land and chieftaincy disputed dotted across the country to engage the serives of landguards thus bringing untold hardships on custodians and residents of the effected communities.

Nana Barima Asar I, who is also the Akwamuhene of Woramponso in the Asante-Akyem Area in the Ashanti Region stated that it was extremely difficultly for Nananom to settle all disputed lands without the assistance of the central government.

" When government officers and Nananom agree on peace map, chiefs and land owners must be made to sign memorandum of understanding for peaceful coexistence.

This peace accord would be the best way to eradicate landguards activities for peace and stability to prevail"
