Tarkwa, (w/r), July 13, GNA - Emmanuel Baidoo, 35, a businessman was on Wednesday jailed 22 years by a circuit court at Tarkwa for defiling a 14-year old girl.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Jonathan Adotey told the court presided over by Mr John Aject Nasam that the victim who lived with the accused at Sefwi Subri Nkwanta had just completed JSS.

He said on July 7, at about 19 hours the victim was with his uncle in a drinking bar when the accused and one Yaw Dena entered the bar. Chief Inspector Adotey said Dena invited the victim and sent her to bring him (Dena) a polythene bag from his room and the victim obliged. He said the accused secretly followed her to the room where he forcibly had sex with her.

When the victim attempted to shout for help the accused threatened to kill her.

After the incident, the victim then went to inform her parents who in turn reported the accused and Dena to the Local Unit Committee. When the Unit Committee members invited Dena and the accused, Dena asked permission to go and collect something from home but ran away. After investigations the accused was handed over to the police at Sefwi Anhwiaso. 13 July 05
