Ejura (Ash), July 13, GNA - The Ejura-Sekyedumase and Sekyere West District Assemblies on Wednesday voted massively to approve the President's nominees for the post of District Chief Executives for their areas. At Ejura, Dr Joshua Ayarkwa polled all the 51 votes cast representing 100 per cent while at Mampong, Mr. Haruna Oppong Boateng had 63 out of 64 votes cast representing 98.4 per cent. The elections were conducted and supervised by the Electoral Commission (EC).

Addressing the assemblies after the elections, Mr. Sampson Kwaku Boafo, Ashanti Regional Minister, reminded the DCEs not to see their office as "gold mines" but as an opportunity to render dedicated and sacrificial services. He said they should be ready to exploit all avenues to bring about unity and development in their areas.

Dr Ayarkwa, who was the Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Building Technology of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) while Mr. Boateng, was a tutor at Saint Monica's Training College. They pledged to co-operate with Assembly Members and communities to ensure development. Those who witnessed the elections included Madam Patricia Appiagyei, Deputy Regional Minister.
