Why Are The Worrywarts NDC Operatives Keep Playing With Ghanaians Emotions?

NOV 24, 2017 LISTEN

It would appear that the NDC’s humiliating 2016 election defeat has really unsettled the nerves of the party loyalists, judging from their recent weird posturing.

Considering the fact that the erstwhile NDC government left a huge debt amid massive economic meltdown, one would have expected the same people who wilfully caused such a mess to show a little remorse and refrain from needless press conferences, but that hasn’t been the case.

Let us be honest, if discerning Ghanaians had not intervened by showing the maladaptive NDC administration the exit during the 2016 election, the rampant sleazes and corruption would have wiped out Ghana off the world map without a trace.

Indeed, if the corrupt officials of the erstwhile NDC government had not embezzled the funds meant for various developmental projects, I bet Akufo-Addo’s government would have undertaken a lot of developmental projects, including the expansion of the free SHS to cover all the students in forms 1 to 3.

Dearest reader, have we mulled over how the huge funds involved in the bribery and corruption scandals in the SSNIT, SUBA, SADA, GYEEDA, Woyome, the Brazil world cup, the infamous bus branding,NSS, amongst others would have funded a lot of infrastructural projects?

Well, if we stroll down memory lane, before the formation of the NDC Party in 1992, the founder of the NDC Party J. J. Rawlings and his coup making friends vowed to purge off the alleged widespread sleazes, corruption and social injustices in the country which instigated their coup d’états in 1979 and 1981.

Ironically, however, sleazes and corruption are deep rooted in the same party whose founder claims to abhor so much to extent that he previously exterminated suspects, many of whom would not have been given a community service in a true democracy.

Regrettably, however, the spate of corruption in the country during the erstwhile NDC administration was extremely worrisome. In fact, the crescendo of alleged corrupt practices cannot be allowed to pass without commenting.

Verily, back then, due to the repulsive activities of the corrupt officials of the outgone NDC government, innocent citizens ended up experiencing economic hardships, starvation, depression, emotional labour and squalor which sent the vast majority to their early graves.

It is, however, really depressing to witness an opposition party whose responsibility is to provide a credible opposition, and yet disappointingly turning away from its core duty and rather engaging in needless public chat shows.

It is also quite disappointing and hypocritical that the supposedly anti-corruption crusaders blatantly refused to speak against the alleged bribery and corruption scandals such as Ibrahim Mahama’s contemptible tax evasion, the infamous Bus Branding, Brazil World Cup, the Ford Expedition vehicle, GYEEDA, AZONTABA, SADA, SUBAH, the purported $200million debt incurred on the faded STS housing deal, the dubious Embraer 190 Aircrafts and hanger for the Ghana Armed Forces and over a US$100 million oil revenue loss between 2011 and 2013 as reported by the Public Interest& Accountability Committee.

Dearest reader, if such a bizarre attitude does not amount to double standards, what is it then?

But despite their apparent manipulating gimmicks, the NDC operatives more often than not would manage to hoodwink some unsuspecting Ghanaians.

In fact, my maternal uncle was among the millions of impoverished Ghanaians who were crudely brainwashed by the cunning and manipulating NDC politicians to reject the expedient free SHS offer during the 2016 electioneering campaign.

Strange enough, after campaigning and voting against the apparent poverty alleviation such as free SHS during the 2016 election, the NDC operatives now have the temerity to complain bitterly about the mode of implementing the scheme.

Apparently, the NDC operatives are all over the place discrediting the infant free SHS, claiming that the scheme will come to a halt within one year. How pathetic?

The fact however is, despite the initial challenges, the free SHS will suffice. So the endless attacks and unfair criticisms will not and cannot bring the scheme down, but the free SHS policy will rather bring enormous benefits to the students, parents and the nation as a whole.
