23 Jobless Youth Given Training Offered By BAC

The Asante-Akim South Municipal Business Advisory Centre (BAC) has upped the drive to transform the economic conditions of the people through employable skills training.

As part of this, it has organized a five-day training in bakery and confectionery-making for 23 unemployed young people.

They were drawn from five communities - Asankare, Atwedie, Dampong, Asuboa and Bompata.

They were taught how to make bread, meat-pie, short bread and chips.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Mr. Alexander Frimpong, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), underlined the determination of the assembly to go the extra mile to assist make the lives of the youth meaningful to the society.

It was eager to support efforts at equipping them with skills that would make them to become economically self-supporting.

He added that skills acquisition was critical for the development of the youth especially, 'those who could not climb the academic ladder'.

He gave the assurance that the assembly would continue to train such young people through the BAC.

He called for all unemployed youth in the municipality to register with the Centre to benefit from skill training programmes to be rolled out by the assembly.

The MCE encouraged the trainees to justify the investment made in their training by starting their own businesses to contribute to the local economy.

Miss Amina Lambata, Head of the BAC, asked that they put the knowledge and skills acquired to good use.

She urged them to uphold best business practices and to take advantage of the BAC's services to grow their businesses.

She praised the municipal assembly for its strong support for activities of the Centre.
