Huge Debts Swallow Up Adaklu District....DCE Unhappy
22.11.2017 LISTEN

Mr. Kadey Phanuel Donkor, Adaklu District Chief Executive, has expressed worry about the Assembly's 'huge' indebtedness to contractors who have executed various projects in the District.

He said the total debt stock owed contractors and suppliers as at December last year (2016) was at GHȼ4.72 million, a situation affecting progress of projects being undertaken by the Assembly.

Mr. Donkor who was addressing chiefs of Adaklu Traditional Area following his official introduction to them, said his team was however working around the clock to offset the indebtedness.

'At the moment, we want to conduct forensic audit of all contracts awarded by the past regime and also audit all payment vouchers, memos and documents following demands by people claiming to have executed contracts for the Assembly without documents,' he stressed.

Mr. Donkor commended the chiefs for their sacrifices which paved way for the creation of the District, but advised them 'to desist from acts that will tarnish the image of the District or stall its progress.'

'I implore you all to desist from rumour mongering, backbiting and mudslinging and put your hands on the oar and work for the development of the District, it should not be business as usual,' he said.

He assured the chiefs that he would operate an open door administration, adding 'I will always seek your opinions and advice to move the District forward.

On development projects, Mr. Donkor said the Tsrefe- Abuadi - Waya- Torda- Akatsivoe road has been given out on contract and assured that all other roads in the District would be fixed soon.

He said plans were far advanced for the extension of potable water to some communities in the District including Waya, Abuadi, Tsriefe, Goefe, Tokor, Kodiabe, Agblefe and HASU.

The DCE said plans were also ongoing for the construction of a district hospital and the extension of the school feeding programme to other deprived communities.

Togbe Agbobada III, Chief of Adaklu Anfoe on behalf of the chiefs, pledged his support to the DCE and called on his subjects to shed their political leanings for the rapid growth of the area.
