NOV 21, 2017 LISTEN

Seduase (GAR), Nov. 20, GNA — Mr Mohammed Buhari, the Chief Executive Officer of SouthEastern Academy, has called on parents to invest in the education of their children.

He said investing in education was a lucrative venture and that every parent should ensure that they gave heir wards good education to secure their future.

Mr Buhari was speaking at the 11th Speech and Prize-Giving Day of the SouthEastern Academy at Seduase near Dodowa in the Greater Accra Region at the weekend.

It was on the theme; 'Sustaining Quality Education: The Role of Stakeholders.'

Mr Buhari regretted that some parents sometimes neglected their responsibilities such as paying their children's school fees and providing them with their basic needs for school.

'You spend so much money on funerals, weddings and other social activities and you neglect your child by not paying his or her fees. This is not the best,'' he said.

Mr Buhari tasked the pupils to take their studies seriously and avoid watching and playing video games.

He urged teachers to desist from all forms of negative tendencies that may tarnish the image of the teaching profession.

Mr Daniel Sorkpor, the Headmaster of the School, enumerated some of the challenges the school is facing as the inability of parents to pay the fees of their children promptly, which was hampering academic work.

He, therefore, urged parents to take active interest in the education of their wards by providing them with all their needs.

Some students were given awards for excellent performance.
