British Council Ghana has organised an awards night to recognise students from its partner schools who excelled in the May/June 2017 Cambridge Assessment International Education exams.

The event over the weekend was held at the College of Physicians and Surgeons in Accra, is the 8th year the award is being held.

Among the Special guest that graced the occasion were Iain Walker, the British High Commissioner; Alan Rutt, Country Director, British Council Ghana, and some dignitaries from British Council, Cambridge International, and Principals from our partner schools.

A total of 24 students were awarded in the Best subject category and three received outstanding students’ awards.

Also recognised were 26 teachers nominated by their schools for supporting the students. Four schools were also awarded Best Schools based on the performance of their students.

Winners in the awards category received various prizes ranging from electronic gadgets, plaques, book vouchers hampers and Cambridge paraphernalia.

Balvinder Kandra, Country Examination Manager Ghana said, "we are excited to host the awards night annually to recognize the hard work of teachers, students and schools.

"We offer range of value-added services for schools that include teacher training, conferences and networking opportunities for school leaders as well as access to our global online teaching and learning platforms," he added.

Since 2010, the event has attracted over 500 parents, prospective students and Principals of leading international schools in Ghana, as well as the general public.

Success stories of previous Awards Nights have led to greater interests and participation in subsequent events.

British Council, Ghana has a network of 44 partner schools across the country that they support to administer the Cambridge Assessment International Education curriculum.

The programmes offered under the Cambridge programme are Cambridge Primary and Secondary Lower, IGCSE, Cambridge O Level, Cambridge International AS and A Level and a range of vocational Cambridge International Diplomas.

Cambridge Assessment International Education is the world’s largest provider of international education programmes and qualifications for 5 to 19-year-olds.

Over 9000 schools in more than 160 countries offer Cambridge programmes and qualifications. The programme develops learners who are confident, responsible, reflective, innovative and engaged – equipped for success in the fast-changing modern world.
