Amoma (B/A) July 11, GNA - The people of Amoma in in the newly created Kintampo South District of Brong Ahafo have called on the Government to turn the abandoned Amoma-Australia Cattle Project into an educational institution or an economic venture to offer employment to the youth.

They noted that the project, a joint venture between the Government and Australia had long been abandoned, with the bungalows and other facilities now inhabited by reptiles and birds. "The Government must consider using the place for other economic activities for the benefit of the people", Mr Johnson Badu-Antwi, a citizen of the town, told Ghana News Agency in an interview in the town. Mr Badu-Antwi appealed to the Government to re-direct the road from Manso to Kintampo, which he said had become accident-prone because of its bad nature.

He suggested to the Ministry of Road Transport to abandon the road and stick to the old road that passed through Amoma, Dweneho, Prampuso, Krutachi-Old Town Junction, Pamudu and Panin-Amesa new town. Mr Badu-Antwi explained that the deep valleys on both sides of the present road from Manso to Panin-Amesa had caused a number of lorry accidents leading to the loss of many lives.

He expressed appreciation to the Government for keeping faith with the people with regard to the rehabilitation of the Amoma- Offuman - Wenchi road, which he said, had been given immediate attention for accelerated development. 11 July 05
