Fintey-Dorfor, July 06, GNA - The chiefs and people of Fintey-Dorfor in the Asuogyaman District have appealed to President J.A Kufuor to help revive the Juapong Textiles.

The Chief of Fintey-Dorfor, Togbe Asilevi III, said this on Saturday at a durbar to mark the annual Dume Dzadzado festival at Fintey-Dorfor. He said the company was the main source of livelihood for the people in and around Juapong and its closure was a blow to them.

"With the closure of JTL and other small companies that relied on JTL, the unemployment situation in the area and several others will worsen and certain towns will become ghost towns", he said.

Togbe Asilevi appealed to the district assembly to assist the citizens to build a classroom block for children and called for the early completion of work on the primary school block project.

The Asuogyaman District Director of Education, Mrs Juliana Ayeh Gyampoh, commended the citizens for building a classroom for preschool and said it was in line with the government's goal that ensures that every child gets access to preschool before they enter primary school.
