Food for All Africa partnered Unilever Ghana, one of the leading brands in the Manufacturing Industry and producers of Blue band margarine and other stakeholder’s on 16th October as part of UN world food day observance to provide food and support to over two thousand low income and vulnerable children at a colorful ceremony in Accra.

The program dubbed Blue band Nutrition for all feast which was held within the Theodora Okoh hockey pitch in Accra brought together beneficiaries of Food for All and stakeholders within Ghana’s food supply chain including Dr. Kwame Amoako Tuffour ,a Senior advisor to the President, former Executive Director of the Ghana School Feeding program and Mr. Kwame Dzokoto,actor and host of the food program, “edziban”.

Speaking on nutrition for all, Dr. Amoako Tuffour called on businesses within Ghana’s food supply chain to support President Akufo Addo’s vision of reducing hunger as co-chair of eminent persons for the implementation of the UN Sustainable development Goals. He emphasized on the importance of centralizing food donation in Ghana to provide healthy nutrition for vulnerable people across the country. He commended Unilever Ghana for taking the lead in partnering with Food for All to overcome hunger in Ghana and called on other public, private and civil organizations to work together in developing the National Food donor’s encouragement policy to ensure sustainable nutrition for all.

Head of Communication and Sustainability, Unilever Ghana, Henry Herbert Malm in a speech read on his behalf reiterated Unilever Ghana’s position on working with community based organizations towards achieving the United Nations sustainable development goals in Ghana.

Nutrition for all must be a shared responsibility and blue band as a brand that focuses on the growth and development of children is proud to partner Food for All Africa on the day to provide food and support to the vulnerable in society and we will be doing more through our sustainability plan.

Chef Elijah Addo, Founder of Food for All Africa on his part spoke on the need for institutionalizing food donations in Ghana to ensure the creation of healthy and sustainable means of nutrition for low income and vulnerable in Ghana. He mentioned Food for All Africa’s vision of ensuring food waste and hunger is reduced in Ghana and called on other corporate bodies to emulate Unilever’s action in partnering community based organizations in accelerating Ghana’s effort in attaining the SDG’s.

He also commended Yum-mie instant noodles, Bela-aqua, Blue band, MaxMart family shopping centre, JCI, Global Youth Empowerment Fund, Perfect picture GH, Chefs with Purpose, DMAC Foundation and Kwame Dzokoto for working together with Food for All Africa to provide healthy nutrition and support to over two thousand beneficiaries on world food day. We will also be supporting our beneficiaries within Afram Plains in line with the global world food day observance theme “Change the future of migration. Invest in food security and rural development

The team provided health screening for the beneficiaries and donated food with blue band products to patients at the Accra psychiatric hospital and on the streets of central business district as part of the event.
