Northerners No More Sells Goats, Guinea Fowls To Pay Fees --- Kamal-Deen

Kamal-Deen Abdulai, the National Nasara Coordinator of the ruling New Patriotic Party has stated that the people of Northern Ghana are no more selling goats, sheep and Guinea fowl before they are able to fund their wards' Senior High School education.

According the NPP Nasara Coordinator who has lived all his life in the Northern Ghana, life was a hell for parents in the North anytime school is reopening or JHS graduate are preparing for SHS.

The three Northern Regions have enjoyed some kind of free SHS education since the days of Kwame Nkrumah. However, their version of the Free SHS was not as comprehensive as what has been introduced by the Akufo-Addo led government where students pay virtually nothing to receive SHS education.

Kamal-Deen who is also aspiring to be the NPP's next National Youth Organiser who was addressing a gathering at Wa after a walk dubbed 'Barika for Free SHS Walk' organised by a Pro-NPP Youth group in the Upper West Region known as Patriotic Ambassadors of Upper West said despite the acute free SHS policy the people of the north were enjoying, parents did all kinds of jobs including selling of goats, sheep, Guinea fowl etc just to be able to afford the school fees of their wards.

He said, it is a known fact that there is huge development gap between the North and the South and majority of the people in the north live below the poverty line adding that that made paying for the fees of their wards a hell.

He admonished the people to embrace the Free SHS policy wholly and learn hard since education is the main panacea to ending poverty in this day and age.

Kamal-Deen Abdulai who led the walk with the Upper West Regional Minister, the Upper West Regional Nasara Coordinator, the Wa West Constituency Chairman of the NPP, the Municipal Chief Executive of the Wa Municipality and several other party big wigs expressed appreciation to the people of Upper West for the love they have shown to the Free SHS Policy adding that 'I am going to Accra with a good message that the people of Upper West have embraced Free SHS.'

On his part, the Upper West Regional Minister stated that every good policy is bound to have challenges at the initial stage of implementation calling on the beneficiaries to be disciplined enough not to mar the good policy with unnecessary demonstrations.
