An Email To The Minerals Commission's Head Of Small-Scale Mining
19.10.2017 LISTEN

Dear Mr. Tetteh,
I am writing formally to e-introduce Mr. Enock Katere to you. He is currently studying for his doctorate degree and also runs an NGO - based in New Longoro in the Kintampo North District known as the Poverty Reduction and Empowerment Centre (PREC).

PREC provides rural farming communities with micro-entrepreneurial training that enables them to take advantage of alternative income-generating initiatives, such as that planned by government for galamsayers.

It works in the Brong Ahafo Region and the three northern regions. It has planted over 54,000 trees thus far over the years. And because it practises regenerative agriculture PREC, a strong believer in sustainability, has also taught many smallholder farmers to rear grasscutters, undertake snail farming and grow mushrooms to diversify their income streams.

For all the above reasons, Enock is quite keen to contribute his quota to the nation-building effort, by participating in the government's initiative to provide galamsayers with alternative incomes. Please give him information about that particular government initiative and how his NGO can participate in it.

Thanks.
Kind regards,
Kofi Thompson.
