11.10.2017 LISTEN
By AASU Secretariat

The Secretariat of the All Africa Students Union (AASU) is delighted by the decision of United States of America (USA) to lift its economic sanctions on Sudan. These sanctions, which lasted for the past 20 years, have certainly imposed untold hardships on the people of Sudan.

AASU wishes to recognize the efforts of the international community - countries, organizations or individuals, which have contributed to the resolution of this problem that has hampered the development of the country, albeit that Sudan has made tremendous strides in the said period. We, equally, acclaim Sudan for taking the path of improving human rights, enhancing religious freedom, and charting a recommended path sustainable peace.

The Republic of Sudan’s commitment to remain a key player in all the efforts aimed at the preservation of international peace and security, and combating terrorism in all its forms as well as human trafficking is laudable and crucial for the attainment of sustainable development and fixing the doldrums confronting the world, particularly Africa.

AASU would like to seize this occasion to call on all African countries to deepen the culture of peace and democracy within the framework of a social, cultural and economically united Africa.

Long live international solidarity!

Peter Kwasi Kodjie
Secretary General-All Africa Students Union (AASU)
