Mankessim (C/R) June 27, GNA - Abura Odonase Schalke "04" on Sunday beat Tarkwa United 2-1 in a First Division league match played at Mankessim.
After the two teams had tied at one all at the first half, it was Tarkwa United who resumed the second half strongly and created several goal-scoring chances but their forwards wasted the chances that came their way.
Schalke "04" gradually warmed themselves into the game before they could subdue the United lads but they had to wait until the 75th minute when their midfielder, Douglas Obeng, scored the match winner. Obeng after collecting a pass from his centre half, Ahmed Acquah, disposed of two defenders in a row before slotting home the ball to blind side of the goalie.
After the goal, Tarkwa United also took over proceedings by dictated the pace of the game but try as they did they could not find the net until full time that brought the final score to 2-1 in favour Schalke 04.
