Breman Asikuma (C/R) Sept, 28, GNA - Mr. Isaac Odoom, the District Chief Executive of Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa, has tasked the assembly members to support the Environmental officers in their efforts at changing the attitude of the people to adopt healthy practices on sanitation issues.

He said this had become very critical because the efforts being made by District Health Officers with support from UNICEF and Global Communities, at changing the attitudes were not yielding the needed results.

Mr. Odoom made the call at the Second Ordinary Meeting of the 3rd Session of the Seventh Assembly, at Breman Asikuma, at which the House approved their Composite Budget and Fee fixing for 2017/2018.

He stated that the District Inter-Agency Coordinating Committee on Sanitation had, however, certified some communities as attaining Open Defaecation Free status, saying they had reported the development to the Central Regional Inter-Agency Coordinating Committee and they were waiting for their verification and confirmation.

The DCE announced that as at 31st August, 2017 the Assembly had been able to generate a total of Two hundred and twenty five thousand, seven hundred and seventy six Ghana Cedis, Seventy-eighty pesewas (225,776.78) representing 80.08 percent out of the Two hundred Eighty one thousand, Nine hundred and forty five Ghana Cedis (Gh¢581,945.00) Internal Generation Fund they budgeted for 2017.

Mr. Odoom appealed to the House to support the revenue collectors in their operations at their respective areas for the Assembly to generate more funds to meet its target to supplement the Common Fund for development.

He also announced that the Assembly had received its first quarter allocation of the Common Fund amounting to Gh¢375,436.45 and assured the House that the guidelines in the disbursement of the fund, which gave priority to the payment of all indebtedness on ongoing projects shall be adhered to.

Mr. Odoom said the Assembly, in collaboration with Goldkey Properties Limited, successfully completed a Kindergarten project at Breman Jamera to replace the collapsed structure, which unfortunately killed some pupils.

The School Block has been inaugurated and handed over to the Ghana Education Service.

The House later approved the recommendations in the Executive Committee report, which included, the repair of a broken-down vehicle the Assembly donated to the District Police and to support them with fuel to enhance their operations.

They also approved the decision to revoke the operational licenses of jackpot lottery by some foreign nationals in the district since their activities were not helpful to the society.

Earlier, Mr. Isaac Anakwa, the Presiding Member, in his address, called for urgent stakeholders meeting to deliberate on types of crops to be adopted for the implementation of the One District, One Factory Project.

He appealed to the members to stop discrimination in the House, saying they should remember that they were there to service the community and not any political party.

He stated that they were representing the entire people and they should all see themselves as one people to work fervently towards the development of the area.
