KOSA Inaugurates Western Regional Chapter

Fijai (W/R), Oct. 2, GNA - Professor Kwame Karikari, an Old Student of the Komenda College of Education, says the time has come for religious leaders and scholars to take a critical look at religious education and make serious revisions to unearth its full impact on society.

He said despite the proliferation of churches and religious groupings the education strata of the society had proven to be so criminal in public life.

He quizzed; "Why is it that we are receiving more religious education and yet the education strata of our society have proven to be so criminal in public life".

Professor Karikari was speaking at the inauguration of the Western Regional branch of Komenda College of Education Old Students Association (KOSA) at Fijai Secondary School in the Western Region.

He, therefore, called for a deeper reform in the country's education sector, adding; "Education, as with every sector of national life, is in deep crisis from decades of poor management at all levels and sections of the system".

Prof. Karikari said the various reforms had intended to address issues regarding infrastructure and current government's intervention and that the Free Senior High School Policy was a social policy shift worth all the plaudits.

He, however, said a central policy on language and development in the country be looked at adding that majority of the citizens needed to comprehend the language used by their legislators and judiciary as well as in the day-to-day public administration.

The inauguration was witnessed by the National President of KOSA, Mr Kish Ato Odum, Mr. Joe Sam, a representative from the Regional Education Directorate and Executives of the Western Region branch of the Komenda Old Student Association.

Mr Odum commended the executives for their immense contribution towards the formation of the association in the Region.

The inauguration ceremony forms part of activities to mark the 70th Anniversary of the College.
