Faisal beat RTU 3-1 in outstanding League match

Kumasi, June 24, GNA - Kumasi King Faisal on Friday beat visiting Real Tamale United (RTU) 3-1 in their Ninth Week outstanding GT Premier League match at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi. The match was rained off on Thursday and was to be rescheduled to Friday.

After a scoreless first half, RTU who were slightly on top failed to carry the day and allowed Faisal to take over affairs of the game strongly when the second half resumed and went ahead to take the lead in the 60th minute through a penalty converted by Prince Antwi. RTU protested vehemently but referee Charles Dowuona of Accra stuck to his guns and it seemed the decision of the referee killed the spirit of the Northern Region lads as they allowed Faisal to dominate the game for a spell.

Speedster Eric Gawu scored two goals in the 70th and 74th minutes to seal the doom of RTU who also wasted a penalty awarded them in 79th minute. RTU however managed to reduce the tally in the 88th minute when Philip Amoako headed home Hamza Mohammed's free kick to beat keeper Suraj Mohammed in goal for Faisal. RTU from then fought like wounded lions and had a chance in the 90th minute to increase their scores but Fatao Junior shot wide amidst his colleagues.
