UNECA to partner Journos to reachout to the population

Hohoe, Sept 27, GNA - The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) has selected 30 Journos in West Africa to become its mouthpiece for its programmes and interventions in the region.

The Journos are to participate in a three-day workshop in Dakar, Senegal, under the auspices of the UNECA Sub-Regional Office for West Africa (ECA SRO/WA), leading to the establishment of a network of economic Journos for West Africa.

According to Mr Tahirou Gouro, Communication Officer of ECA SRO/WA the strategy is to forge partnership with the media to become the fulcrum around, which the communication strategy of the regional body would revolve and maintain its visibility.

He envisaged that maintaining its visibility through the partnership would facilitate the economic and social development aspirations of ECA, with the media driving its agenda.

Mr Gouro indicated these would be achieved by adopting multifaceted communication strategy to leverage its programmes, policies and projects.
